DC Police, LA Police Nab 19-Year-Old Suspect In 2020 Homicide

Police have arrested a suspect from California who shot and killed a D.C. resident back in 2020, officials said.

On August 6, 2020, around 5:45 p.m., officers responded to the 600 block of 46th Place, where they found 26-year-old Michael Brittingham, who had been shot and killed, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

A second adult male victim was found shot at the scene and was taken to a nearby hospital for non-life threatening injuries, authorities said. 

Another juvenile male victim walked into a hospital suffering from a gunshot wound, as well, and was treated for non-life threatening injuries, police said.

On August 29, 2022, with help from the Los Angeles Police Department and the United States Marshals Service, D.C. law enforcement charged 19-year-old Dreaun Young of D.C. in California, officials reported.

Young was charged with second degree murder while armed and was going to be extradited back to D.C., law enforcement said.
